A Statistical Observation of the Congenital Ocular Anomalies



Abstract
The 512 cases of congenital ocular anomalies among the 30204 out-patients seen in the Department of Ophthalmology, Catholic Medical College, from Sept. 1. 1964. to Aug. 31. 1969. were evaluated statistically. Among 41 kinds of congenital ocular anomalies (C.O.A), the eye lid group was the largest in number (180 cases, 35. 1%).
For the evaluation of the site of the involved eye 307 cases (60%) were binocular, and the right eye was 99 cases (19.3%), the left eye was 106 cases (20.7%) in the monocular involvement.
As the age, the most C.O.A. was under 15 years old (73%), as the sex, male was 340 (66.4%), and female was 172 (33.6%).
As the incidence of C.O.A., entropion ciliare was 85 cases (17.4%), Congenital strabismus 54 (10.5%), congenital ptosis 50 (9.8%), Retinitis pigmentosa 49 (9.6%), and congenital cataract was 43 cases (8.4%).
Also the literatures were reviewed.
